I now need an even bigger container to run experiments– and right away they said, “Use a cooler base.” The base holds the cool water– and it rusts unless it’s painted. The techs found me one laying outside in the gutter.

Until arriving in India I have been using scrap metal in the form of bicycle parts. When I arrived they asked why I wasn’t using yogurt tins? (Meaning rusty iron yogurt containers) I couldn’t see this coming!

As a Wisconsinite whose ‘normal’ life includes Brandy Old-fashioned on ALL holidays, I really get a kick out of the placement of these 2 bottles of Angostura Bitters at the Poonam Bazaar touting many international foods. Not only were they mixed in with the coffee and jam (obviously no one who stocks it really knows what it’s traditionally used for) — but it also cost $10.
