I came back to the guest house to grab something from my room and the entire staff was in a photo with some guests that were leaving to return to Chennai. It was a funny moment all lined up and posing– I love the smiles on all of the staff’s faces– it really captures the friendships that I see everyday.
I’ve run the majority of my decolorization studies and now want to see if bacteria will eat the remaining color. If they uptake oxygen in the presence of the wastewater, they are eating the waste. This little Rank Brothers mechanism measures this.
Here is a decoration they make of colored powder (might be sand)– in the image of a woman praying because the day is for women to pray (in their first 5 years of marriage) for the long life of their husband.

Snake God Day– the gardener invited me for snacks on Nag Panchami. This is mom, dad, son, and granddaughter. I felt so privileged to share in their day.
